DEFINING THE ASSET LIFE CYCLE
01 APPROACH

Physical assets are all around us and are essential to the way we live. They can be anything, from the roads and bridges we cross, the buildings in which we work, the water treatment networks our cities operate, the production units but also the energy and fuel pipelines that we use, and a lot more, small or large-sized, public or privately owned. Physical assets and infrastructures, that are vital to operating, and which hide untapped value, if effectively managed.

Each physical asset goes through a complete Life Cycle, covering all stages, from its design and creation, its utilisation and maintenance, to its renewal, reuse, or disposal.

Atom Group has the knowledge, the teams, the equipment, as well as the technologies and capabilities required to manage every stage of an asset’s Life Cycle, either through consulting or through technical implementation.

THE ASSET LIFE CYCLE IS AT THE CORE OF OUR PHILOSOPHY AT ATOM GROUP.
WE VIEW
its management as a strategic choice and a business mentality.
WE DEFINE
each stage, through services based on the knowledge, experience, and technologies we possess.
WE AIM
at the operational availability, value optimisation, security and sustainable development of physical assets and/or infrastructures.

Data Acquisition and Evaluation

An effective physical asset management system is based on accurate and sufficient data. This data is collected both at the time a physical asset is created and at any other time during its life cycle. The process of collecting, analysing and presenting them is the foundation for making informed decisions that will bring long-term value.

As a start in the evaluation of a physical asset, Atom Group experts outline the development of custom data collection plans. Once a data collection plan is completed, our inspection teams carry out the necessary work on-site. This is followed by the processing, synthesis and presentation of the data so that the latter is a guide for the decisions that will be taken.

It is the first necessary step for effective decision making, and one that should be repeated often, to ensure the maximum operational performance of any equipment, infrastructure or installation.

Integrated Inspection Services

To ensure that a physical asset operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with regulations, it must be regularly monitored and inspected. Our multidisciplinary experts are able to support our customers in all inspection requirements and at every stage of their facility’s life cycle, from construction and on-site routine inspection to decommissioning. We carry out periodic inspections and risk assessments for all types of equipment and infrastructure so that an appropriate action plan can then be drawn up.

Life Cycle Management

Through a combined approach that unites systematic data collection with long-term financial analysis and sound engineering design principles, Atom Group creates comprehensive studies and construction plans for new physical assets. In addition, in both new and existing physical assets, and always through this combined approach, we formulate Operation and Maintenance plans [O&M], that allow prospective users to deal effectively with any issues that may arise. Problems are eliminated, prevented or treated at a lower cost thanks to quality preventive techniques thus achieving the minimisation of long-term property costs and the maximisation of operational efficiency.

The integration of O&M staff in the development process of O&M plans contributes greatly to the successful long-term cost reduction.

Informed Scheduling

Informed Scheduling is developed through on-site inspection and life cycle planning procedures of a physical asset and involves defining the steps to be followed for all regular maintenance, protection and restoration activities.

In other words, it creates an optimum policy on when and how each task should be done. The deliverable is the development of an annual program that will apply the tasks policy to the associated physical assets, within a defined budget and based on requested business priorities.

Informed Operations & Maintenance

Part of the overall Operation and Maintenance strategy (O&M) is the toolbox that has been built through Informed Scheduling. Atom Group helps its customers with a full range of on-site services, to maintain their physical assets while operating at maximum operational efficiency and within budget limits.

Atom Group services, tailored to customer’s needs, integrate technology for key data retrieval and service performance monitoring, provide integrated services (O&M) through long-term performance-based contracts, implement capital recovery programs, and assist decommissioning and the replacement of physical assets, where necessary for user safety or operational performance.

04 APPROACH

Asset-based solutions and accurate data are the key components of an effective Physical Asset Management strategy.

A vital part of effective physical asset management is data-based decision making. The collection of sufficient precision data substantiates the arguments of a business plan and allows for effective communication between stakeholders. In addition, the characteristics, conditions, needs and value of each physical asset differ. That is why the solutions for their proper management must be customised and not universal or standardised.

Atom Group assists physical asset managers to improve their value by adopting a systematic approach to managing them, Physical Asset Management, which is not limited to their inventory or maintenance. Instead, it is a business strategy that, based on data, inspections and diligent work, aims at customised solutions that will optimise the performance of your physical assets.

With in-depth knowledge and long-standing experience, we design the life cycle of a physical asset [equipment or infrastructure], driven by its performance and aiming at its constant business availability and operational cost reduction. These integrated physical asset management plans cover an indicative 10 to 20-years horizon, define short-term and long-term needs, outline investment levels and formulate functioning strategies on both new and existing assets.

In addition, they lead to the prioritization of goals and tasks, the guidance of planning decisions, the creation of a basis for monitoring progress towards goals, and the improvement of accountability.

We provide a range of Physical Asset Management services, which can be applied, either in total to each complete Asset Life Cycle of a physical asset, or partly based on a specific need. View more below.
